Let's get in!

Student's package received.

----------------------------------------------------------------

We had spent the first week for lectures and practical classes before fieldwork.
Our professors were William Helland-Hansen-a course leader (UiB), Lars Stemmerik (Københavns Universitet) and Snorre Olaussen (UNIS).

Seismic sequence stratigraphy by William.

The  stationary  part  of  the  course  encompassed i.a.  sequence  stratigraphy  concepts  and approaches, seismic stratigraphy, well data analysis, trajectory analysis and clinoforms, labwork, logging as well as geology of Svalbard.

Seismic facies analysis with Hans.

Lars-carbonate sedimentology and sequence stratigraphy.

Carbonates-samples and thin sections.

Arv (NTNU), Anna Stella (University of Gothenburg) and Mikkel (Aarhus University).
We saw those rocks later in the field.

Lower Cretaceous siliciclastics-logging exercise.

Still windy :)

Deltaic environment, so nice. Hans=scale.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Such a coincidence. I'm meeting my old firends Eugen and Sarah (University of Texas at Austin). They're here on Svalex, the first non-norwegian one in history. Now ? Preening as the new stars of the internet :)

With Eugen and Sarah in the UNIS Canteen.

Every friday, UNIS community meet during the Friday Gathering-weekly party in the canteen. Student Council provides participants with drinks at low prices, great! So we gathered by the table and started... drilling wells. Results below...

Geology has never been more attractive :)

That was a very spontaneous idea. Next day I drew that correlation and contributed to the course content :)

This year was the 20th anniversary of UNIS, hence the administration organized the student photo competition. I submitted that photography and won the 2nd place in category Social Life. Thank you!
