After absorbing offshore safety courses and completing offshore medical certificate my internship on the R/V IMOR has finally begun. The unit belongs to the Maritime Institute in Gdansk (Department of Operational Oceanography) and is the Sailing Specialized Marine Laboratory for the Needs of Power and Marine Industry.

Our cabin.
R/V IMOR started its service on July 2006 and has been one of the most up-to-date hydrographic vessels in Europe. It is capable of performing comprehensive surveys: hydrographic, geophysical, geological e.g. for placement of wind farms, pipelines or oil rigs.
The vessel's toolset consists of i.a. Multibeam Echosounder, SVP, Side-Scan Sonar, Seismic Boomer, Sub-bottom Profiler, Magnetometer, ROV, Vibrocorer etc. as well as Wet Lab and Computer Laboratory.
The vessel is also equipped with Dynamic Positioning (DP) System and DGPS that provide campaigns with high accuracy.
